Dry creek bed for drainage – Only takes a few hours

Today I started building a lookalike dry creek bed for drainage down the side of my front verandah. I had meant to do this for a few months and after a few days of storms and the gutters running over I decided to get stuck into it today. Luckily I have a good supply of natural rocks and I will finish this off tomorrow in a couple of hours. Pictures show my progress so far and I think it looks really nice. Soil errosion problems – i knew it was going to happen

I am posting this article as I knew I was going to have soil erosion problems on my newly excavated front yard as soon as I received a decent drop of rain and I wanted to let everyone know that it is worth the effort to install a silt fence. How do you know when to pick a watermelon – the old fashioned way

How do you know when to pick a watermelon – it’s easy. My grandfather always had a beautiful big iced chilled watermelon in the cement laundry trough every Christmas day waiting for the grand kids. Alternatives to grass seed – Just plant grass runners

With grass runners there is no waiting time, as opposed to seed germination. You can see a result immediately Planting something that is already growing is usually very…
